DATACENTER FORUM Romania 2025

The 2025 edition of DATACENTER FORUM Romania, organized in May by Tema Energy, brought together the largest community of data center experts from Romania and the wider region.

With six previous editions, the event has become a key meeting point for professionals in data centers, cloud, hosting, and AI, reflecting this diversity in both its agenda and participants.

Smart Alliance Technology Cluster Appoints New President

Cosmin Măcăneață, Managing Partner at Omega Trust, has been appointed as the new president of Smart Alliance Technology Cluster.

A graduate of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, with a major in Cybernetics, Statistics, and Economic Informatics, Cosmin Măcăneață brings over 17 years of experience in providing IT audit and consulting services.

Omega Trust is a founding member of the Smart Alliance – Innovation Technology Cluster, alongside DIGI-SOFT, Geomant, Integrisoft Solutions, and Tremend Software Consulting.

Smart Alliance participated as speaker at the online conference “Together in the EU – Fit for 55: Investments in Innovation, the Launchpad for European Climate Action”

Smart Alliance participated as a speaker at the online conference “Together in the EU – Fit for 55: Investments in Innovation, the Launchpad for European Climate Action”, organized by the Liaison Office of the European Parliament in Romania.

Ileana Vlad, CEO of Smart Alliance – Innovation Technology Cluster, represented the Cluster during the discussions.

The event brought together Members of the European Parliament, local authorities, civil society representatives, experts, business leaders and the general public. Discussions focused on how European measures and programs support investments in innovative technologies and solutions, helping industries across Europe achieve the transformation set by the “Fit for 55” legislative package and reach the ambitious target of climate neutrality by 2050.

Meeting with the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitalization

On March 19, 2021, representatives of Smart Alliance and the National Union of Romanian Employers (UNPR) met with Cătălin Rizea, Chief of Staff to the Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitalization.

Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between the Ministry, clusters and digital innovation hubs to create an effective ecosystem for IT and digitalization. The Ministry expressed support for initiatives aimed at improving legislation and developing research centers affiliated with clusters or DIHs.

Smart Alliance proposed the creation of a working group bringing together Smart Alliance, Smart eHub and Wallachia eHub, a suggestion welcomed by the Ministry. Future collaboration will also include a webinar dedicated to funding opportunities and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

 

The meeting was attended by UNPR President Lucian Ioan and Vice President Florin Balint, whose support was highly appreciated.

Meeting between Smart Alliance representatives and the Deputy Mayor of Bucharest

On March 18, 2021, Smart Alliance representatives met with Stelian Bujduveanu, Deputy Mayor of Bucharest, to discuss collaboration opportunities in the city’s digital transformation.

The Cluster expressed its support and readiness to contribute to upcoming projects and to develop best practices that keep Bucharest among Europe’s leading smart cities.

 

Smart Alliance promotes digitalization and innovation among decision-makers and works to strengthen partnerships between local authorities and the IT industry. The openness shown by the Deputy Mayor provides a solid foundation for future cooperation.

Meeting between Smart Alliance, UNPR representatives and Senator Lorant Antal

On Wednesday, March 17, 2021, representatives of Smart Alliance and the National Union of Romanian Employers (UNPR) took part in a meeting with Senator Lorant Antal, member of the Senate Committee for Economic Affairs, Industries and Services, chairman of the Senate Committee for Energy, Energy Infrastructure and Mineral Resources, and member of the UDMR Economic Committee.

The purpose of the meeting was to introduce the Smart Alliance Cluster and its ongoing projects, highlighting the involvement and visibility of its members both nationally and internationally.

We are confident that Smart Alliance’s proposals will receive full support and that our participation in consultations on IT and digitalization issues within the Romanian Senate will open new opportunities for Romania and for Romanian IT companies.

During the meeting, participants also addressed the pressing challenges faced by the IT and digitalization sector, which remain a top priority for Smart Alliance in all its initiatives. 

Smart Alliance at the 2019 European Cluster Conference

Smart Alliance participated in the 2019 edition of the European Cluster Conference, dedicated to the theme “Connecting Ecosystems – Priorities for Cluster Development to Support Innovative Interregional Cooperation.”

The event included a productive matchmaking session with cluster managers from across Europe and an interactive conference focused on key topics such as digitization and the skills gap, circular economy, shared value, and social impact.

Smart Alliance partners with the Romanian South African Business Association

In 2018, Smart Alliance Innovation Technology Cluster announced a cooperation with the Romanian South African Business Association (ROSABA) to connect investors with ICT companies interested in expanding beyond local borders and achieving sustainable growth.

The partnership aimed to support innovative ICT businesses in exploring opportunities for bilateral collaboration between South African and Romanian companies, through dedicated workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions.

ROSABA, acting as a think-tank for bilateral development, provides a platform for businesses from both South Africa and Romania to connect, exchange information and develop mutual interests.
